BIRTHDAY WEEKEND SO FAR.........

YES. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
I LIKE TO CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS

FRIDAY--

LYNDA CARTER POSTER GREETS YOU

One of my closest friends for decades, Lynda Carter, played the Catalina Jazz Club this weekend. She debuted her new act, "My Life," and it was sensational. In addition to her charming stories, there were video clips and stills throughout. She sang songs from Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin--you name it. Her version of "Natural Woman" was off-the-charts!

And, her emotional song that she wrote when she first became famous in Hollywood, "Toto, We're Not in Kansas Anymore," brought the crowd to its feet.

Another huge highlight was the solo number by her daughter, Jessica Altman, who sang a song from her about-to-come-out EP called Wild Nights. Jessica sings like a dream; a real pro. The audience flipped. And, guess what? Jessica is a lawyer with a high-powered Washington, DC law firm (her day job).

SATURDAY--CAROLE COOK AT THE PURPLE ROOM

Saw 95-year-old legend, Carole Cook, on Saturday night. It was a night of living legend history. She has the energy of a teenager (almost); a rapier wit, a strong singing voice, and Broadway stories for daaaayyyyyyyyysssssss. It was a night I will always treasure.

PARTY FOR ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY, AMANDA MCBROOM

ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY, AMANDA MCBROOM AND MICHELE BROURMAN GAVE AN EXTRAORDINARY CONCERT AT THE ANNENBERG THEATRE

The talent of these ladies just knocks your socks off. It was one of the best concerts the McCallum Theatre has ever had. The Performance Series is under the auspices of the Annenberg Theatre Council of which I am a proud member.

PS Museum Board Member John Monahan and I gave a "blow-out" for the ladies, with much singing involved. And, Clint Holmes, who was appearing at The Purple Room, came by and sang, too!
