UPDATE-----IT'S NOT ABOUT THE PARTY, IT'S ABOUT THE PERSON WHO IS PRESIDENT

SOME PRESIDENTS ARE ELECTED AT THE EXACT RIGHT TIME IN A MATCH OF THEIR SKILL SETS AND WHAT THE COUNTRY NEEDS. OF COURSE, NO ONE PRESIDENT IS ALL GOOD OR ALL BAD.



HERE ARE SOME TERRIFIC PRESIDENTS, IN MY OPINION:

HARRY TRUMAN

Harry Truman was tremendously underrated as a successor to Franklin Roosevelt. His bravery and honor were never questioned and he made incredibly difficult decisions for the betterment of our country. Go study him.

Bill Clinton: regardless of his sexual stupidity and disregard for the honor of the presidency and the oval office, I'd give anything to have him back as president. Our country was really great then.

DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER

 

Dwight Eisenhower was the right man for the job at the right time. After years of war, we needed calm. We needed a "father" in the White House and he was it. Yes, he was the guy who got us into Viet Nam originally, but overall he was excellent.

BILL CLINTON

FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT

WHAT A LEADER. Again, right man at the time. Our country was going down the tubes. Despite his socialistic leanings,  our country needed those programs to get us out of trouble. Was it the beginning of the welfare state? Big Daddy Government? Yes. But I think we had no other choice at the time.


Woodrow Wilson was a thoughtful man, way ahead of his time. His anti-isolationist policy ran against popular sentiment, but he was totally correct in starting global thought with the League of Nations. It was our loss that it failed.

I'll tell you why both men are here. In my opinion, these two men had more foreign policy experience than most presidents combined. They were probably the most prepared and experienced for the job. I realize Nixon had personal problems that ruined his presidency, but his opening to China is one of the most important steps for our current world. And maybe "Daddy George" didn't know how a supermarket functioned, but I don't care. He was an experienced leader and is a very fine gentleman.
I'm not getting into Halliburton, etc. All presidents have issues. I look at the big picture. 

AND RONALD REAGAN----

 

I'm sorry this ran yesterday without him. what was wrong with me?  He was the right man at the right time. After Carter destroyed our reputation around the world by making us look weak, Reagan rode in on his white horse and straightened everybody out. The US regained her strength, and Americans were once again proud of the greatest nation on earth.

Since My Beloved Joan's passing, I can;t tolerate any tense shows on TV. At least for now, "The Blacklist," "Homeland," and anything of that genre will have to wait.

"Jane the Virgin" is a terrific, original, new show starring Gina Rodriguez. Watch it on the CW.

STEPHEN COLLINS---MY CONTROVERSIAL OPINIONS

FIRST, LET ME SAY THAT I WOULD NEVER CONDONE CHILD MOLESTATION EVER.

I have had many occasions over the years to be in the presence of Stephen Collins, and he has always presented as a thoughtful, authentic human being who deals with his life in a real way and wants to make it better.

Naturally, I have my behind-the scenes-sources, too, so I will say ALLEGEDLY:

1. He was taped without his knowledge or consent by his wife. Allegedly, she kept the tape until the time was right.

2. The time became right when, allegedly, she wasn't getting the money figure she wanted from the divorce.

3. IF IT'S TRUE that what he did was expose himself, and on (perhaps) only one occasion had a girl touch him---it's awful, he needs help, but it was allegedly almost 30-40 years ago.

4. The release of that tape has destroyed his life forever. (and probably that little girl's life as well).

5. But he is not a member of the clergy molesting kids every hour on the hour with penetrating sexual acts.

Let's keep this in perspective. If other evidence comes out, and he's been doing this on a regular basis, then, I will be wrong. So far, I don't think so. We need to so the whole, greedy picture.

ORIGINAL CLAYTON MOORE LONE RANGER MASK FOR SALE

CLAYTON  at auction October 17th - 20th, 2014     estimate $30,000 - $50,000  Symbol for justice and enduring icon of American culture.  From the personal property of Clayton Moore. Original screen-used Clayton Moore signature "Lone Ranger" mask from The Lone Ranger. (ABC-TV, 1949-56) Clayton Moore wore this black mask as the star of The Lone Ranger - the wildly successful TV series of the 1950s about a Texas Ranger who disguises his identity to fight crime on the frontier. Accompanied by his trusted Indian friend, Tonto, and packing a gun loaded with silver bullets, the Lone Ranger dispensed justice while respecting the laws of society.  The Lone Ranger's iconic custom-made mask is constructed of a face-fitting shell crafted of lightweight resin-impregnated cloth with black felt covering the exterior. Features attached, adjustable 12 in. black elastic strap for securing to the face around the back of head. Clayton Moore performed many of his own stunts and he worked with the costume designer to create this mask, working from a plaster casting of the actor's face, so it would fit perfectly and not interfere with his peripheral vision during action sequences and on horseback.  Following the production of The Lone Ranger, Moore ultimately kept three of his masks and displayed them in his library among other personal memorabilia. The accompanying letter of authenticity by Moore's daughter, Dawn, states in part,   "When deciding which pieces of his collection were to be shared with his fans after his passing, he and I talked about each mask's future. This one - while obviously almost identical to the other two - for some reason was the one I chose to keep. Its condition seemed to bear witness to more magic-making and therefore to me, held more of my father's spirit...Of the other two masks, one resides in a private collection and the other is proudly on permanent display in the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of American History."  Resin shell exhibits minor cracking on the back of the mask from production use; otherwise, in fine condition. Displayed on a custom, museum-quality plexiglass stand suspended on a post affixed to a 13 x 8.5 x 2 in. wooden base with a 12 x 6 x 7 in. plexiglass cover.    Arguably the greatest piece of television pop culture Americana extant.
