This is not about violence, and, of course, it is a figurative slap. There's usually humor/annoyance involved. 
I'm going to name some people I'd like to "slap." If you don't get the joke, then this game is not for you. If it is for you, you'll know exactly why I want to slap these people and I would never need to tell you why.
