GOLDEN GLOBES PREDICTIONS AND MEMORIES

THE GOLDEN GLOBES ARE THIS SUNDAY. IT'S HARD TO TELL HOW MANY VERBAL REFERENCES TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT WILL BE DELIVERED.

I have been to so many Globes shows that they should give me one for attendance!

I know women and most men will be wearing black in support of Time's Up, and that's fantastic. But I don't want the show to be a somber funeral. How I long for the days of Rita Hayworth and Elizabeth Taylor being drunk; fights in the bar; Pia Zadora's win causing the HFWA to be banned from network TV; standing in line with Shirley MacLaine in the bathroom; commiserating with Debbie Reynolds in the bar on the roof after she was robbed of the Globe for "Mother"--she was unbelievably disappointed; colliding in the dark back stage with Tom Cruise (I really hurt his foot)

(Side note: My BioDad father was the lawyer for the Globes for decades and tried to get them out of their messes.). The Globes was also the last time I ever saw my aunt. She looked radiant at my father's table and was dead two weeks later from a heart attack.

The Globes are filled with memories and emotions for me. I hope it's wonderful tomorrow night.

A FUN LOOK BACK BEFORE WE GO TO PREDICTIONS:

                                        PREDICTIONS

Seth Meyers---Nice guy. Funny guy. This is a tough year to be emcee. I hope he pulls it off, but I'm concerned.

BEST MOTION PICTURE DRAMA----Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

BEST MOTION PICTURE MUSICAL OR COMEDY----GET OUT (if the voters are feeling "hip this year). I would prefer DISASTER ARTIST OR LADY BIRD

BEST ACTOR MOTION PICTURE DRAMA----GARY OLDMAN (the voters think Tom Hanks is God, and, since Daniel Day-Lewis' performance might be his last....)

BEST ACTRESS MOTION PICTURE DRAMA----FRANCES MCDORMAND (big competition from Sally Hawkins) And, please God, let Jessica Chastain get an Oscar nomination

BEST ACTOR MOTION PICTURE COMEDY OR MUSICAL----JAMES FRANCO (if GET OUT has momentum, it may carry Daniel Kaluuya, and The Globes love Hugh Jackman almost as much as Tom Hanks)

BEST ACTRESS MOTION PICTURE COMEDY OR MUSICAL----JUDI DENCH. God, I love a good Judi Dench musical! Don't you? It will be a crime to see Margot Robbie or Saorise Ronan lose.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR----CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER AND YOU ALL KNOW WHY

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS----ALLISON JANNEY, but, My God, does Mary J. Blige have a promo machine behind her......
