HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALEXANDRA DWEK

I look forward to Alexandra's birthday party every year because it is always beautiful, AND hilarious. As usual, the dinner party conversation cannot be reported!!!! It did involve sex, though.

This year it was a dinner given by her best friend, Danielle Del, in her new "palace-in-the-sky" home with her husband, master attorney and ZenimaxMedia president Ernie Del. Danielle's decorating choices are magnificent. I have never see mother-of-pearl wallpaper! OMG! It's a 60s retro glamour vibe that is amazing.

Danielle, Alexandra and Linda Thompson

I LOVED the decor
The cocktail hour lasted much longer than normal because we all were so busy talking to each other. Alexandra had a wonderful group of women--so bright; so funny. It was a love fest all evening.

HOLLYWOOD SEX PARTY SCANDALS---THE REAL TRUTH

Using an illustration rather than photos of people I know who are part of this scandal

SO RIGHT NOW EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT THE MEN/BOY SEX PARTIES given by Hollywood executives, producers, directors, etc. WHAT A SHOCK!!!!!

I'm being sarcastic. Those parties have been going on since the movie industry began. I don't know where they were in the 30s, but in the 40s and 50s, many of them took place at the Garden of Allah apartments at Sunset and Crescent Heights.

BUT NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT THE 80s.

There was lots of money and people were flying high. I literally wrote an entire novel on this period and those parties and gave it to William Morris. I changed the names, but it was very obvious who the people were. William Morris said, "This will be a big, commercial success, but if we represent it our agency will close down. None of the people in the book will do business with us." The book is still in my computer......

I know the facts, because I can name almost every participant, the corporate heads, studio heads, network people and producers who held these boy parties almost every weekend. Frequently they were in Palm Springs, but they were also held at other vacation home areas like Malibu.

There was one company, that I won't name, of course, that had a man on the payroll with a title and an office whose job it was to procure young boys. Yes, that's what I said. And sometimes, if you went to the office after hours, you might find "something" going on. I know that from personal experience.

And, also, some of the boys would show up as "waiters" at business/social events and simply stay in the kitchen until the first party was over. Then a second one would begin. I also saw cocaine on coffee tables in crystal dishes waiting at the ready for party No. 2.

I think this is enough info for today...............

KINGS LOSE..........WE WIN ANYWAY!!!! WHAT FUN!

BOYCOTT THE BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL---TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS---BOYCOTT THE BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL

THE SULTAN OF BRUNEI, OWNER OF THE BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL, (MUCH TO EVERYONE'S HORROR FROM THE VERY BEGINNING) SUPPORTS BRUNEI'S POSITION OF KILLING GAY PEOPLE.

ALL human rights supporters should immediately stop doing business with them. The boycott has already had a dramatic effect.  Look at this shot of an empty Polo Lounge yesterday.

I know for a fact that guests are moving out of the hotel, lunch dates are being canceled, and groups who hold events there are looking to change venues immediately.

HIT THEM WHERE IT HURTS. STOP THE MONEY.

AMERICANS WILL NOT TOLERATE THESE KINDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE INFILTRATED OUR SOCIETY TO GET OUR MONEY.

KIM NOVAK SPEAKS OUT ABOUT THE OSCARS AND BULLYING

Kim Novak on April 10, 2014

KIM NOVAK SPEAKS OUT ABOUT OSCAR BULLYING

It’s time to address the elephant in the room…….the Oscars. I was very excited when I was asked to be a presenter on the show. I was excited, yet nervous.
Years ago, I walked away from Hollywood partially because I didn’t stand up to the bullies. I caved in to the pressure instead of fighting for what I felt was right….and I didn’t have the courage to prove myself to my peers through my work.

After my appearance on the Oscars this year, I read all the jabs. I know what Donald Trump and others said, and I’m not going to deny that I had fat injections in my face. They seemed far less invasive than a face-lift. It was done in 2012 for the TCM interview special. In my opinion, a person has a right to look as good as they can, and I feel better when I look better.

When I was honored at the Cannes Film Festival last year, I received an overwhelming standing ovation. Yet, in Hollywood, after the Oscars, I was bullied by the press and the public on the Internet and TV. The only difference that night was that I had taken a pill to relax—that I shouldn’t have taken. I had been fasting for three days and it affected my behavior. I regret taking it.

However, I will no longer hold myself back from speaking out against bullies. We can’t let people get away with affecting our lives. We need to stand up to them in a healthy way by speaking out, working out and acting out. I am speaking out now because I don’t want to harbor unhealthy feelings inside me anymore. One of the reasons I enjoy exercising and painting so much is that I can let out my frustrations and reactions to what’s happening in the world around me by working it out in a healthy way. It helps me, and doesn’t hurt anything or anybody. People need to get these things out of their systems and stand up to bullying. I believe there would be less suffering and violence as well.

LUCIE ARNAZ OPENS AT THE CARLYLE IN NY LAST NIGHT

Lucie Arnaz. (Photo by Stephen Sorokoff)

REX REED'S REVIEW---AND I'M SICK IN LA. DARN!

Heeeeere’s Lucie! It’s hard to believe the one-woman show business gene pool named Lucie Arnaz has never played New York’s chic Café Carlyle before. But in her dazzling and intelligent new cabaret act she’s ushering in the new spring season better than a garden of daffodils. She calls it “Spring is Here,” and she’s not kidding.
Instead of hoisting anchor with clichéd tunes about robins’ nests and Easter bonnets, she focuses on what spring underscores best—the many faces of love. Considering what she learned through the years from her parents—the Latin satin of Desi and the comic timing of Lucy, the world’s favorite redhead—you can forget about calling her a chip off the old blockhead. She’s hip and smart and musically well-schooled, and learning more by the year. Hitting the cabaret circuit, she has never been better.
Things gets right into the groove with her opening number, the torrid “Love,” introduced by Lena Horne but polished within an inch of its life by Lucie (and there’s some Lena in her pounce). “Fools Rush In,” demonstrating a special fondness for Johnny Mercer, has just the right throbbing vibrato in the upper register, and more than enough warm caressing in the basement of her considerable vocal range.
The joys of spring and the arc of romance it brings with it continue through 16 more hand-picked songs worth hearing again, colorfully arranged by accompanist-pianist-musical director Ron Abel and assisted by Tom Hubbard on bass and Ray Marchica on drums. The results are witty (Cy Coleman-Carolyn Leigh staple “When in Rome”), bouncy (“You Can Always Count on Me”—Cy Coleman again, with swinging lyrics by David Zippel), melancholy (David Friedman’s “Listen to My Heart”) tender (“Namely You,” one of the very few tender ballads from the famously raucous Li’l Abner) and powerful (Craig Carnelia’s showstopper “Just a Housewife” from the wonderful but short-lived Broadway musical Working).
In the course of the well-spent evening, she squeezes the humor, seductiveness and tempo out of every aspect of love—the findings, fallings, fantasies and all the F-words. Love is what Lucie Arnaz gets back from an audience on its feet with enjoyment and adoration.
No wasted songs without purpose here. No lousy atonal rock anthems thrown in to prove her versatility. Hilarious, moving, eternally lovely and in perfect voice, she makes the valuable time you spend in her company really count—each moment, each minute and each second in it. Lucie Arnaz’s time has come. Isn’t it time somebody smart created, polished and produced a Broadway show just for her? I’m more than ready for a multi-faceted show business icon with a lot to give, giving it all she’s got.

PASSOVER WITH JOAN RIVERS AND A BRISKET

JOAN AND THE BOYS...Arnold Steifel, Kenny Solms, Dan Glosser, and Tony Tripoli

Last year Joan was the rabbi and she decided somehwere during the service to salute Rosie O' Donnell. This year, attemtpting to follow some kind of decorum, she asked her long-time business manager and frierd Michael Karlin to officiate. It went much better, although there were still some cracks. Joan sitting next to Kenny is a dangerous situation.

Michael and his bride, Rainbeau Mars

Each year the hors d'oeuvres are baby hot dogs, baby potato pancakes, cheese and tomato skewers, and gefilte salmon lollipops. Yes, that's what I said.

AROUND TOWN THIS PAST WEEK

The Professional Dancers Society Awards to Leslie Caron and Deedee Wood and Mark Breaux were held at the Beverly Hilton.

It was a sold-out event and every dancer and choreographer from the last several decades was there. I loed being in that room, because it was filled with pros who are about "the work." You could feel the heartbeat of true performing and discipline in the room.

This ridiculous photo shows Mitzi Gaynor emceeing the event

Honoree Leslie Caron

Presenter Chita Rivera

Shirley Temple Tribute Host

Mitzi Gaynor

Dick Van Dyke told everyone how he wasn't wanted by Disney for "Mary Poppins," and it was Dee Dee Wood and Mark Breaux who taught him how to dance, which convinces Disney to give him the part.

Chita Rivera and Dee Dee had a running joke about how they met. Chita swore it was in a bar and Dee Dee kept denying it. I believe Chita.

To see all these legends on stage was like eavesdropping at a private party where they were all hanging out and talking about the old days. What a treat!
