RICHARD DREYFUSS!!!! FOR SURE.
IT'S NOT ABOUT "THE LOOK." It's about the performance...the depth, the intensity; what it makes you feel; the character it conveys.
DeNiro clearly CHOSE to play it flat; without energy, and, frankly, he hardly looked awake. He's an a extraordinary actor, so this was a surprising choice. Dreyfuss was mesmerizing and unforgettable. He didn't chew scenery. He just was riveting.
And, again..NOT about the look!
And, not to ignore the superb actresses Michelle Pfeiffer and Blythe Danner......they both did an outstanding job. In fact, Michelle ran away with that version.
