THREE LINES INTO THIS I knew it was trouble, but I stayed long enough to make sure. Andre Previn's music is totally atonal, repetitive---no musicality whatsoever. Phillip Littel's book sounds like a seven-year-old wrote it. It is laughable.

But, I do what to say that the actors/singers, Renee Fleming et. al, are marvelous. They did everything they could with what they were given. No wonder it's a short engagement. All anyone was talking about at teh first intermission was how awful it was.
