REMEMBERING REBECCA SCHAEFFER

SHE WAS MURDERED BY A CRAZED FAN ON THIS DAY IN 1989, AND SHE WAS MY FRIEND.

Rebecca was a brilliant, young actress...extremely bright and well-mannered. She achieved success as a teen model and then was selected to star opposite Pam Dawber in a TV series called "My Sister Sam." She was the breakout star, and had already made movies.

One day, while I was on the set with her, a crazy guy named Robert Bardo tried to get past the gate guard. He had written letters; he "loved her." He was turned away.A few weeks later he shot her to death in her apartment courtyard. He got her address easily by simply going to the DMV.

There's a lot more to the story, but let's just remember this adorable girl whose whole like was ahead of her.

GOD BLESS YOU, REBECCA.  IF ANYTHING GOOD CAME OUT OF THIS IT WAS THAT STARS AND OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT REALLY BECAME AWARE OF STALKERS AND THE DANGER OF STARDOM.

I'D RATHER IT HAD COME ABOUT SOME OTHER WAY.  I MISS YOU EVERY DAY.
