TRAPPED BY SUMMER HEAT? WATCH NETFLIX

I HAVE BEEN GLUED TO NETFLIX FOR DAYS. I'D ALREADY SEEN HOUSE OF CARDS AND 13 REASONS WHY, SO I DECIDED TO SEE TWO OTHER NEW SHOWS----THE KEEPERS AND GLOW.

THE KEEPERS........WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW

Sister Cathy Cesnik was killed in the 70s because she was about to blow the lid off a priest sex-abuse scandal in the school where she taught--Keough, in Baltimore, Maryland.

This documentary, directed by Ryan White, is chilling, riveting, and angering in the extreme. Years later, some of Sister Cathy's students and nuns have come forward and spoken to the director. These former students and victims of this abuse detail horror after horror. I wish this were required watching for the entire Catholic Church, all the way up to the pope.

Of course, Father Joseph Maskell, clearly the ring-leader, was hidden by the church and never prosecuted, even though there was a trial that the VICTIMS LOST.

Maskell was thought to have been shipped to Ireland. He died in 2001.

There were two other priests involved---one is dead, and the other, who is presumed to have killed Cathy on Maskell's orders, is still missing or dead.

You cannot turn this off once you start.

For years, I stopped giving money to the Catholic Church when so many abuses went unpunished---including the white-washing of Cardinal Roger Mahony in Los Angeles. That did it for me.

However, about three months ago I started giving again because I like the new pope. Well, this documentary stopped all that. I will never give to the Church again, but I will support individual nuns who need help.

FROM THE HORRIFIC TO ESCAPE ENTERTAINMENT

GLOW---THE GORGEOUS LADIES OF WRESTLING

This series is based on a documentary, and, while some may tune in initially to see women wrestle, that's not the "big picture" of the show. It is a character-driven, deep exploration of societal misfits, and it grabs your heart.

Allison Brie

Marc Maron

Betty Gilpin

Allison Brie is the lead character, and we see everything from her eyes. What a part! She gets to show every level one can. Marc Maron plays the wrestling show's producer, and he's flawless. Betty Gilpin plays an unemployed former soap star who needs money and joins GLOW in desperation. The show is peppered with fantastic, unusual women characters who become more alive and interesting with each episode. Go have fun.

SPECIAL MENTION---ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK

This show had really begun to bore me, and I couldn't even finish last season. I guess the producers had the same feeling, so this season they really changed it up. The entire season takes place over a three-day period of a prison riot where the inmates really do take over the asylum. Good choice. It's back to being good again.

And, bravo to Blair Brown, as the "Martha Stewart" character. She's killing it.

You'll always be my favorite, Miss Molly Dodd.....
